Nestled in the rolling hills of the Derbyshire Dales, on the edge of the Peak District National Park, the market town of Wirksworth is rightly described as a hidden gem. Its architectural heritage is as varied as its vibrant arts scene, and its community has forged of an independent spirit based on hard labour and ale – mainly down to its mining pedigree, but the locals do their best to respect tradition.

Wander through its maze of alleyways and near-hidden passages, or relax on the town’s own StarDisc, set in the community’s Stoney Wood, before heading back into town for a pint at The Feather Star or some street food at Umami.
